If your business is in Portugal and sells to Portuguese customers, .pt says so at a glance and feels local. .com is the most recognised ending in the world and makes sense if you have your eye on customers abroad. You don't have to pick just one: plenty of people register both and point one at the other, so nobody lands in the wrong place. We offer 30 endings, from .pt and .com to .eu, .org, .online and .shop.

You can, in two ways. Either leave the domain where it is and point its DNS at our hosting, so the site is served from here without touching the registration. It is. You are the registrant, with your own details, and that's how it's recorded with the registry behind that ending. We are the technical intermediary: we handle the registration, the renewal and the tedious parts, but the domain isn't ours and you can take it elsewhere whenever you want. In return, registry rules ask one thing: that your registrant and contact details are correct and up to date. Wrong details can lead the registry to suspend or cancel the domain, and there's no refund if that happens.

You search the name in our tool and see straight away whether it's free. Pick the ending, add it to the cart, fill in the registrant details and pay. From there the registration is requested automatically and is complete once the registry confirms it, usually within minutes. You get your order confirmation by email. A name is only really yours once the registration is confirmed, not when you search for it.

Registrant details are sent to the registry and may appear in the public registration lookup services, WHOIS and RDAP, according to each ending's rules. On most international endings you can turn on registration data protection, which replaces your contact details with the protection service's own; you choose it in the cart and see the cost before you confirm. On .pt, .com.pt, .fr, .es, .us and .uk that protection isn't available, because those registries don't allow it.

Check carefully before you pay, because a completed registration can't be swapped or refunded: the name is registered exactly as typed and the fee has already gone to the registry. If it happens, tell us: we'll see what the registry allows, but we can't promise a fix. It's the one place where registering a domain really is final, which is why it's worth the ten seconds of re-reading.

You can, it's yours. We give you the authorisation code and unlock the domain whenever you ask, with no exit fees and no runaround. There's just one rule that isn't ours: on international domains, registry policy imposes a 60-day lock after a new registration or a transfer, during which another transfer isn't possible.

It depends on the ending. .pt and .com.pt are €16.23/year, .com is €16.87/year, .fr €13.38/year, .net €19.62/year and .org €20.32/year. We offer 30 endings, and the full list, with registration, transfer and renewal prices, is in the table on this page. No VAT is added: we are covered by the VAT exemption under Article 53 of the Portuguese VAT Code, so the price you see is the price you pay.

On most endings it is, and .pt and .com are good examples: you pay the same every year. But some endings run a first-year promotion and renew at a higher price. .eu starts at €7.75 and renews at €11.06; .club starts at €26.88 and renews at €30.64; .shop starts at €46.95 and renews at €55.74. The table on this page always shows both columns, registration and renewal, so you know today what you'll pay in a year.

Your domain renews automatically every year, so you don't lose it by accident, and we email you before every renewal with the price: 7 days ahead on monthly cycles, 14 on cycles up to a year, 30 on multi-year ones. Cancel in your client area up to the day before: you keep the service until the end of the period you have paid for, and that period is not refunded. If a domain does expire, it stops working and there's a short window to get it back, first a 7-day grace period and then a 15 to 30-day redemption period depending on the ending, with a recovery fee. After that the name is released and anyone can register it.

If you're a consumer, you have 14 calendar days from your order confirmation to cancel without giving a reason: email support@raiaweb.pt and we refund within 14 days, at no cost. Registering a domain is carried out immediately and in full, and that right only ends if, at checkout, you expressly asked for immediate registration and acknowledged that you would lose it. Today our checkout doesn't ask you for those two declarations, so the right stands: ask, and we refund.
